Class Schedules
What will we DO today?
I am excited to see what your kids get excited about in this years' class schedule.
As I fill the schedules and need to ask you follow-up questions, or add something, I'll be in touch.
The goals are :
Kids have a day they love, and we change things up to keep it fun and fresh all year.
Parents feel good about what the kids are getting
We do things that are difficult to do at home
We support the academic foundation that you are building on in your homeschooling days
We build a community of friendships, memories and support for both kids and parents
So how does this work? This document has the class descriptions on it. This is a general description of what we are expecting to do. Just know that the activities will not be quiet table work, or things kids are academically tested on. We meet kids where they are without judgement. Our program is about experiences. It is hard to pour a whole class of experiences into a paragraph!
Your child will have at least one "Foundations" class. These are classes that help them build skills from whatever level they are on. Our job is not to decide if they are 'on' grade level. It is just to help them grow in their learning so they have a solid foundation to build on. They may not be aware that they are learning foundational skills. These are still hands on, interactive and fun. If they gain confidence in an area they are not strong in, that is a win.
Your child will also have "Life Skills" class or classes. These are things that will help them in practical ways. The older students often complain that they have to take things they'll never need. These are classes that will give them knowledge, skills and challenges they can use in the big wide world.
Then they will have several classes that are interest based and "Enrichment". These will likely include foundational learning, and life skills activities, but are focused on a specific topic. These are deep dives into one kind of experience or topic.
